Mates in Construction seeking your support
An update on progress with securing funding from Government – both to fill the budget shortfall for the coming year and for a more sustainable funding stream in the future. I am now writing to ask for your support to address the Co-Chairs of the Construction Sector Accord.
MATES in Construction has now been operating for three years, however the demand from our industry is increasing as a we continue to support workers right around the country.
Yesterday, the MATES in Construction Board of Directors met and discussed the frustration of being passed between Government Agencies to find funding for the MATES programme. Again, we find ourselves without a secure funding stream. We are asking that you stand beside us as we ask the Co-Chairs to support us in addressing this funding need. I have attached a letter that outlines the need for government to match our industries significant contribution, this will ensure that we are sustainable into the future.
We are asking you to sign this letter below as a pledge of support to MATES, it is asking them to take action and support the workers in our industry who are the engine room for the $15billion that our industry contributes to the New Zealand economy.
Please sign and return this letter below by Wednesday 3rd August. Note the email only needs to be signed by one person within your organisation. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give me a call or drop me a line.
Ngā mihi | Kind regards
