The ATI offers training courses for people either new to the industry or wishing to enter the industry. Only available for people working in New Zealand and the flooring industry.

The Level 3 Introduction to Flooring course is an accessed online module for people interested in a career in flooring. Part of the module requirement is workplace placement for a short period of time. To register in this course, you will need a flooring company that is able to provide workplace experience.
Course content
- Knowledge and installation of floor coverings, with components on health and safety and professional standards.

Member: $200+GST per person plus $46+GST per person for resource book
Non-Member: $270+GST per person plus $46+GST per person for resource book
An added component to Introduction to Flooring can be a two-day course run by an ATI tutor in partnership with a flooring supplier with demonstrations and interaction with practical activities.

The Level 3 Flooring Fundamentals course is available as an online module or a one-day course run by an ATI tutor. You must be currently working in the NZ flooring industry to enrol. It is suited for people that are new to the flooring industry or may have roles in management, sales or administration. The one-day course is also optional as a training day only without completing the level 3 certificate.

- One Day course – covers knowledge of floor coverings and demonstrations of installation methods.
One day courses are available in Auckland and Christchurch, but can be organised regionally.
- Online – knowledge of floor coverings, installation methods and care and maintenance of floor coverings.

The overview session is suited to people entering the industry or part of a flooring businesses induction at management or sales level. The session provides and overview of the flooring industry and covers flooring products, preparation and installation methods.

Upskill courses are available for installers working in NZ that would like to upskill in resilient welding and coving or installing textured carpets. It can also be customised as an Introduction to Flooring in New Zealand for flooring businesses who have employed migrants.
Upskill courses require tools, equipment and appropriate venue for demonstrations and interaction. Outside of Auckland and Christchurch, further supplier support or sponsorship is needed to arrange this course. Enquire further to jeff@floornz.org.nz
